Prawn Poke Bowl, an all time favourite in 3 easy steps!
The secret to making the best poke bowl is to use a natural dressing with an umami flavour that will bind the fresh ingredients together into a cohesive bowl.
A summer favourite all around the world has to be the Prawn Poke Bowl. Originating from Hawaii in the US, I’m going to make this bowl with some Aussie faves like avocado, cherry tomatoes and our sweet & tangy Rangoon Sunrise – Roasted Chickpea Poke Bowl Dressing.
A delish bowl you can easily make at home with fresh ingredients from your local market, what’s not to like?
A key to a good Poke bowl is to use fresh ingredients and to layer the ingredients starting with a base.
Prawns
Mixed Green Leaves
Sweet Potato
Avocado
Cherry Tomatoes
Quinoa
Purple Cabbage
Red Onions
Rangoon Sunrise – Roasted Chickpea Poke Bowl Dressing
Corianders
Corn Chips
We use Australian fresh prawns here from the local fish market. Peeled and devein the prawns, carefully leave tails attached. Marinate them with salt, pepper and paprika. Set it aside for 30 min to a hour.
Cook them in the stainless steel pan with a bit of olive oil. Set aside on the paper towel to absorb oil.
Rinse the sweet potatoes with skin attached, pat dry and cut them into slices after cutting them lengthways. Grill them over the outdoor bbq for the charred effect or just cook over griddle for the same result. Spray the cooking oil occationally to avoid sticking to the pan.
Quinoa needs some time ahead to be able cook properly according to the package instructions. Or skip this by using precooked package and microwave it beforehand.
Chop coriander, cherry tomatoes, avocado and red onions. Shred the purple cabbage.
In your bowl, place mixed green leaves as the first layer. Place cooked prawns, avocado, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes, cabbage, red onions, coriander and corn chips. In a small dish, pour sweet & tangy Rangoon Sunrise – Roasted Chickpea Poke Bowl Dressing. Dip the juicy prawns in the dressing occationally to get the delicious bites in between.
Unlike other dressings it’s all natural and low in sugar so there is nothing nasty in it, only the good stuff. Please take a look below and pick one up and give it a try, you’ll love it.

Ground Roasted Chickpeas are a popular condiment in the salad bowls of Burma. Carefully sorted chickpeas are dried before being ground then lightly roasted. We source chickpeas from a region in Burma that cultivates and hand roasts chickpeas.
Australian limes add a tangy flavour and feel to the creamy roasted chickpeas ensuring a well balanced overall flavour.
Australian garlic provides a pleasant background note that helps bind the flavours of roasted chickpea and lime together. The garlic adds further depth and compliments the natural flavours found in a poke bowl.
Rangoon Sunrise was established in 2021 in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. It ensures an authentic flavour when combined with the sesame or roasted chickpeas. Canola oil is also much lower in saturated fat content than other oils such as olive oil.
Our Sesame & Lime, Sesame & Chilli dressings have only 0.1g of sugar per serve (0.6g/100g).
Roasted Chickpea has 6.6g/100g of sugar.
Some dressings on the market can have anywhere from 11g/100g to 49g/100g! That’s a lot of sugar!

Our exotic flavours of fermented tea and roasted chickpea use ingredients that we source from the northern highlands of Burma which have grown these condiments for centuries.

Yes, we started out in 2021 by selling our dressings through markets in the Yarra Valley and Dandeong Ranges in Victoria where we live. We got amazing feedback and from there we have moved to commercial small batch production. We are driven by a passion to make it easy for everyone to eat better and feel that current dressings fall very short of that. Inspired by flavours used in the bowls of Burma, I quit my corporate finance job and embarked on creating a range of truly fresh and savoury tasting dressings unlike anything else on the market.
