Salmon Poke Bowl with Sesame & Chilli Dressing

A classic Grilled Salmon Poke Bowl in 3 easy steps!

The secret to making the best poke bowl is to use a natural dressing with an umami flavour that will bind the fresh ingredients together into a cohesive bowl.

A poke bowl with crispy skin salmon sounds delicious and something you might find in a fine dinning resturant rather than something you can make simply yourself. My favourite part of this poke bowl is the tenderness of salmon against the creamy sesame with a kick of chilli from Rangoon Sunrise – Sesame & Chilli Poke Bowl dressing. Chase it up with a bite of crispy skin and fresh radish before you dip the fillet again in the dressing.

A key to a good Poke bowl is to use fresh ingredients and to layer the ingredients starting with a base.

Using a fresh fillet straight from the fish market can guarantee you the best result. Pat dry the fillet after a quick rinse under cold water. Scale the skin if you are keeping it for the crispy skin. Marinate the fillet with salt, pepper and a bit of paprika. Pat dry and rest it for 20 min before cooking. You can either cut off the skin to make this simple and quick. For those who also like to achieve crispy skin, rub a bit more salt on the skin while marinating and don’t use other spices like paprika on the skin side.

In a hot stainless steel pan, add olive oil and keep the heat to low to medium. Cook the salmon on the skin side first , press it down with spatula to keep the whole skin flat and hold it for a minute. Cook for about 6 -7 minutes and turn the other side and cook another 1 minut

In a bowl, layer the base with mixed green leaves. Place quinoa, chopped avocado, shredded cabbage, sliced radish, chopped coriander, corn chips and the crispy skin salmon fillet. In a small dish, pour Rangoon Sunrise – Sesame & Chilli Poke Bowl dressing and place it in the serving bowl. Cut some Salmon fillet and dip directly into the creamy Sesame dressing to experience the flavour celebration in your mouth.

Unlike other dressings it’s all natural and low in sugar so there is nothing nasty in it, only the good stuff. Please take a look below and pick one up and give it a try, you’ll love it.

Australian Sesame and Queensland chillies give a delicious balance of umami and extra heat. The sesame also adds a pleasant creamy texture and mouthfeel.

Salmon Poke Bowl

Australian Limes and Australian Garlic give a depth of flavour and tang to the dressing. This sour note pairs well with the umami of the sesame as well as the extra heat of the chilli.

Salmon Poke BowlFermented green tea leaves are a precious condiment in the salad bowls of Burma. Providing a pleasant pickled flavour it forms a distinctive base note. Our fermented tea comes from the northern highlands of Burma where it has been culitivated for centuries.

If you prefer to make your own natural balanced dresssing over buying an overly acidic and sweet dressing then you will love our dressings! They are all balanced in flavour and are low in sugar giving a great savoury and umami flavour.

Absolutely. While they are perfect with a poke bowl as they are savoury in flavour and creamy in texture. We’ve also found they work well with a leafy salad, roasted veggies and also grilled meats. We’ve even used them as a noodle salad dressing (with soba noodles) and it works a treat!

Yes, all our dressings are gluten free. Our Golden Crunch topper is gluten free as well.

Yes, our range of dressings and Crunch Topper are 100% plant based.

Why do we use Canola oil in our dressings? Rest assured that the Canola oil we use is 100% locally sourced Australian Canola oil. It ensures an authentic flavour when combined with the sesame or roasted chickpeas. Canola oil is also much lower in saturated fat content than other oils such as olive oil.

Our Sesame & Lime, Sesame & Chilli dressings have only 0.1g of sugar per serve (0.6g/100g).

Roasted Chickpea has 6.6g/100g of sugar.

Some dressings on the market can have anywhere from 11g/100g to 49g/100g! That’s a lot of sugar!

All our dressings are manufactured in small batches in our facility in regional Victoria. We use 87-88% Australian ingredients to ensure quality and freshness. Our exotic flavours of fermented tea and roasted chickpea use ingredients that we source from the northern highlands of Burma which have grown these condiments for centuries.

Yes, we started out in 2021 by selling our dressings through markets in the Yarra Valley and Dandeong Ranges in Victoria where we live. We got amazing feedback and from there we have moved to commercial small batch production. We are driven by a passion to make it easy for everyone to eat better and feel that current dressings fall very short of that. Inspired by flavours used in the bowls of Burma, I quit my corporate finance job and embarked on creating a range of truly fresh and savoury tasting dressings unlike anything else on the market.
